L.I.N.D.A. was founded in 1987 by two women named Linda and who were very good friends. They thought it would be fun to get a group of women named Linda together for a "LINDA CONVENTION" but neither had time to do it. However, names were gathered from various and sundry sources and written on little pieces of paper to be stored in a box for another day. One of them ended up being laid up with an injured leg. The time was at hand. The box was retrieved and the little pieces of paper evolved into a list. The friend was contacted and the first ever Linda Convention became a reality and was held in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. 160 ladies named Linda came from all over the country. The rest is history. Only one year since 1987 has missed seeing a convention. Iowa, Illinois, Ohio, Missouri, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Indiana, Nebraska, and Florida have been the states to host a convention but the membership is international with members from Great Britain, Australia, Canada and Norway. Reporters from international magazines, new papers and video producers have followed the Linda's on trains, hikes, walks, through meals and interviews. Friends for life have been made at the conventions. Those attending are usually making plans to attend again the next year or even be the hosts for the next year's convention. What fun. You can enjoy the convention too. Membership is not required to attend the convention, however we strongly advise pre-registration due to meal planning. On occasion a walk-in can be worked in but this is at the discretion of the L.I.N.D.A. Banquet Committee as seating may be limited.
